Me and my wife did the 5 dish cooking class with our English speaking guide Lance, and our chef Lee. What a fantastic experience and a real highlight of our time here in China. The food was excellent, Lances English was fantastic, and was a real fun experience.First we were taken to a local market where Lance showed us all the local produce and answered our many and varied questions. We also picked out some fruit, dumplings and a century egg for eating later on, which we didn't have to pay for, a very nice touch. We then returned to the kitchen to enjoy some loose leaf tea and discussed what we would be making. We made mapo tofu, twice cooked pork, stir fried cabbage, cucumber salad and an aubergine dish. Me and my wife shared a wok station and followed along with what Lee the chef was doing, with translations from our guide Lance.Once we had finished cooking we sat down to a feast even with some bonus dishes thrown in from the chef! Thanks for an unforgettable experience!
We had a wonderful cooking class experience in Chengdu. The class was led by a friendly young man with excellent English and a knowledgeable local chef. We started with a walk through the market, where we learned about different fruits and vegetables, including some exotic ones. He was happy to answer all our questions—not just about food, but also about life in China. The cooking space was clean and spacious, and the chef clearly demonstrated each step. Everyone participated in preparing five delicious dishes, which we enjoyed together at the end. There were just four of us in the group, which made the experience even more personal. It was fun, informative, and a great way to connect with local culture. Highly recommended!
This tour is a must do in Chengdu! Jerry, our guide was super, he brought us around a local market explaining and tasting different local food and ingredients. Then after enjoying a tea resting, the cooking class begins and it all wraps up with a meal together. If you want to learn more about Chinese culture, in particular from Sichuan, you should not miss it! The only small advice I would suggest is to book directly from their website, so you avoid extra fees of intermediaries (e.g Getyourguide). Congratulations to the team, this is a great project to promote Sichuanese kind and beautiful culture!
First time in chengdu with my fam and bringing to the class was one of the best thing of our trip. Food is amazing, place is amazing, market is really clean and fresh, full of many things to try and buy. From my point of view that I’ve been in China for few year I would recommend this experience to any foreigner in town. Also the host “Jerry” and the ayi are really nice people. They will make the experience smooth and chill.
Such a wonderful experience with Lance and the Master Chef herself. The market tour was insightful and we got to taste some local snacks and tea before we started cooking. The class itself was well thought out and every ingredient and step well explained. Our dishes actually tasted amazing and I’s highly recommend you do the 5-dish option. 11/10 would do it again next time in Chengdu!
