Morning: Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City

Your private guide will pick you up from the hotel and take you to Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world. You can visit the Monument to the People's Heroes and the Great Hall of the People, a place full of historical significance and national pride.

Subsequently, you'll walk to the Forbidden City, just north of Tiananmen Square. As the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, it houses a vast collection of ancient Chinese art and artifacts. Wander along the central axis, passing through magnificent palaces such as the Taihe Hall, the grandest building where emperors held important ceremonies.

Lunch

Head to a local restaurant recommended by your guide for a delicious lunch featuring a variety of Beijing-style dishes.

Afternoon: the Temple of Heaven, Hongqiao Market and Drum Tower

Next, drive to the Temple of Heaven. This ancient architectural masterpiece was used by emperors in ancient times to perform sacrifices and pray for good harvests. The round-shaped Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is an iconic structure, representing the ancient Chinese people's understanding of the universe and their reverence for nature.

Then, make your way to the Hongqiao Market. It's a bustling market where you can find all kinds of goods, from traditional handicrafts to pearls. Bargain with the vendors and pick up some unique souvenirs.

In the Houhai area, walk along the lake, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and feel the relaxing atmosphere. Nearby is the Drum Tower, a well-preserved ancient building. Once used to tell time in ancient Beijing, it now stands as a symbol of the city's long history. You can also stroll through the nearby hutongs, the narrow alleys that are home to local residents. Experience the real-life charm of old Beijing, perhaps even stopping by a local tea house for a cup of tea.

Finally, your guide will accompany you back to the hotel, bringing this wonderful one-day tour to an end.
